Mt. Shuksan Reflected in Picture Lake

Mt. Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake.

mt shuksan reflected in picture lake

I have previously photographed Mt. Shuksan and Picture Lake but last Wednesday I was fortunate enough to have a near perfect reflection in the lake. No wind, no breeze, no monsoon. I knew that Mt. Shuksan was one of the most photographed mountains in the world, but even still I did not anticipate a lineup for various favoured viewing spots. Lots of photographers to talk to is nice though, ignoring the one guy who was pointing out to all the Canon users that he shot Nikon and was therefore in some manner superior.

Squamish & Howe Sound

Brandywine Falls is a 70 meter (230 feet) waterfall north of Squamish on Hwy 99.

The Stawamus Chiefis the second largest granite monolith in the world (after El Capitan in Yosemite National Park). Probably why my Geology Professor dragged us out there and tried to make what is a spectacular sight uninteresting.

Fall Color in North Cascades National Park

Gorge Creek Falls sits in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area of North Cascades National Park. The main vantage point of these falls are a metal bridge that sways and shudders when traffic goes over it – and it doesn’t have the sort of surface you could put a tripod on. I have found this spot to not be very hospitable to photography, though the views are excellent. I had a bit better luck earlier this year while trying a vertical “panorama”.

Fall at Chilliwack Lake Part II

Some fall color at Chilliwack Lake. The mountain at the end of the lake is Mt Redoubt, but is actually in North Cascades National Park in Washington State.
